Which Bonnet Is Right For Me?
New to bonnets? We can help.
Let's walk you through Bonnet 101.
Here's the scoop: a bonnet is a great hat to put on a child because it doesn't fall off, the brim covers their face from the sun, their ears are protected from the wind, it's breathable and lasts forever.
So there's the main reasons why they're so great. Now, need help convincing your spouse and getting them on board? Scroll our Instagram page to see some cuties in our hats and remind them that this hat will fit better than any other hat, hands down.
Which bonnet do I choose?
Step One:
Let's start with season. What season are you shopping for? Do you live in Alberta and you want the child to have a hat for November? Choose fleece! Do you live in California and need a hat for June? Linen or cotton!
Step Two:
The next option would be brim or no brim. Is the season sunny or not? Sunny weather = brim, not-so-sunny= no brim. BUT! Believe it or not, 95% of our customers order a hat with a brim because they find that the brim is useful year round and can be flipped back or under when not in use.
Step Three:
Colour... so many choices! When in doubt, go neutral or stripes. Or, if it's a boy go brown, if it's a girl go pink. Easy peasy.
Wildcard:
This hat is a gift. Congratulations on being an excellent gift-giverer. The recipient will be so thrilled that you picked something thoughtful, handmade and most of all, FUNCTIONAL. A lot of people opt to get the new or unborn baby a newborn size which totally makes sense but remember if little baby Jack is due in December maybe you could gift a 6-12 month size brimmed hat for him to wear in the sunny summer! Think of how much use it will get and mama will be so grateful for something she didn't even think of getting!
Linen VS Cotton VS Fleece... What's The Difference?
There are three types of bonnets we offer and here is the breakdown:
Spring/Summer/Fall
Linen
Linen hats are great for spring, summer and fall as they're breathable, lightweight and offer a brim to protect from the sun's harmful rays. Linen hats are lined with a soft cotton muslin.
Cotton
Cotton hats are great for spring, summer and fall as they're breathable, lightweight and offer a brim to protect from the sun's harmful rays. Cotton hats are lined with a soft cotton muslin.
Winter
Fleece Lined
Our winter hats have a wool exterior but are lined with a cozy, soft fleece material that is perfect for the chilly months. These hats look like the regular linen bonnets (except in warm wool!) but you will know that it is fleece lined because it is topped with a coordinating handmade pom pom!
Hope this was helpful! Happy shopping.
